My name is Cassandra Chugh. I am from Calgary, Alberta –
Canada! I am in my third year at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg,
studying Vocal Performance.

 I have one older
brother who just graduated with a Bachelor in Psychology…he is trying to get a
job now.

I have had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ since
November of 2004… I grew up in a family that never talked about religion. My
dad is a non-practicing Hindu, my Mom a non-practicing Lutheran (though it was state
religion when she was growing up so she has never spoken of actually
believing.) My brother is an atheist…. so we have some really interesting
conversations in my house. It has been one of the biggest struggles of my life
so far – trying to understand why my family doesn’t believe and attempting to NOT take it on as my burden to fix. I am learning more and more to trust that
the Lord knows best, that I can only see one piece of the puzzle, while he can see the whole thing. I pray for them more than anything. (If you think of it
I would really appreciate your prayers for them) The Lord has also blessed me with a
Mentor, Kara. When I found Christ my church paired us together. She has become
my best friend and her family has become mine.

I love people. They fill me up, refresh me.  I love having meaningful conversation.
I love music, it inspires me! Some of my favorites right now
are Feist, Chris Tomlin, Mozart, Sibelius, John Mayer, Rautavaara, Hillsong, The
Cat Empire, Eva Cassidy, Chris Rice and Sarah Harmer. (a bit of a variety)
I love books my bible, Jane Austin, historical fiction,
Agatha Christie.
I wish I could play the guitar but I am working on playing
the piano better.
I love chocolate.
I love beautiful things –flowers, rain, leaves, laughing, my
bed, art, tea.
I love working with Kids! I suspect once I finish this
degree I will go to seminary and focus on children’s ministry.

I really dislike being cold.

I am half Finnish, half Indian! My Dad went to University in
New Dehli so it has a special place in my heart. I have never been to India and
never thought I would get to go! I have also never been on a mission’s trip as
my family has never been supportive of one. Then this year I sat down with my dad to have our annual “What are you
going to do this summer?” conversation-  he said he thought this trip would be a good idea. I was SHOCKED – I didn’t even have to convince him. God is amazing; I just had to wait
for his timing. 🙂

I thought you should all see what I am studying, so here are
some pictures of me performing. Last summer I sang my first entire opera! Hansel and Gretel – I was the witch and the mother!

Anyways sorry I went on for so long! I am super excited to meet you all in May. I’ll be Praying!
