My name is Drew Nelson and I live in Longview, Texas (about 2 hours east of Dallas). I have lived here my entire 19 years. At the end of this coming semester I will be graduating from Kilgore College, a local community school, with an associates in photography. I plan on transferring to
either Oklahoma Christian University or Abilene Christian University afterwards
and majoring in missions because I have had my heart set on being a full-time
missionary since my first youth group mission trip in the 7th grade.

I am a huge fan of music. I don’t have any musical talent
whatsoever, but I think that helps attribute to my respect for the art. I enjoy
a wide variety of genres. I love bands like The Devil Wears Prada and August
Burns Red, but I enjoy bands like The Glorious Unseen, Jeremy Camp and Shawn
McDonald just as much. It all depends on my mood at the moment.

I have an amazing family with a strong pull towards God and
His works. Both my parents have worked with my church’s youth group for as long
as I can remember. They have spent countless hours teaching Sunday School
lessons, riding in crowded busses with teenagers and working side by side with
those teenagers in places like Mexico and McAllen. They have definitely been a
huge influence on my direction in life. I also have a younger brother who is a
junior in high school this year.
At one time or another he has played just about every sport imaginable. He is currently starting on the Varsity soccer team. I was never quite
as into sports as he is. I played soccer for 13 years and I wrestled in high
school, but I was never very good at soccer. To this day though I still enjoy
kicking a ball around with friends.

I am excited to see what God has in-store for me in India.
This trip has been on my mind almost constantly since I was accepted. This is
an exciting step towards what I want to do with my life. I cannot wait to meet my
teammates and team leaders! I am praying for each and every one of you! God
Bless!

Your Brother in Christ,

Drew Nelson
